Are you a healthcare professional? Movement is Life offers two online modules for continuing education credit — both focused on the musculoskeletal and mental health disparities that shape outcomes for the patients most at risk.

Module 1

Comorbidity of Arthritis and Depression in African American, Caucasian and Hispanic/Latina Women: Increasing Awareness, Improving Care

This educational activity is for the healthcare professional who is involved in the care of patients who are at high risk for arthritis and comorbidities, such as obesity and depression. At-risk individuals include women and those of African American and Hispanic descent.

This group demonstrates “health disparities,” which are preventable differences in health status. Health disparities frequently can be attributed to social disadvantages, poverty, inadequate access to care, and educational inequality.

Module 2

The Role of Nurses in the Management of Joint Pain in Women and Black and Hispanic/Latino Women

This educational activity provides an overview of gender and racial/ethnic musculoskeletal disparities, the relationship between obesity, osteoarthritis (OA), and other comorbidities, and the potential impact of the American Medical Association (AMA) recognition of obesity as a disease. Also discussed are cultural and health literacy considerations of the patients most at risk for disability from OA.

It concludes with a discussion of the challenges facing healthcare professionals in providing culturally competent care that promotes healthy habits, the need to confront conscious and unconscious bias, and communication skills and techniques that enhance shared decision-making with patients.

Up to 14 credits are based on full conference attendance. Credits are awarded after post-summit reconciliation.

Participants from disciplines not listed above may be able to claim IPCE credit; acceptance is determined by their respective licensing or certifying board.

The conference offers accredited continuing education through Joint Accreditation. Physicians receive CME credit (AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™). Nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other eligible disciplines receive continuing education credit or contact hours.

This activity has been planned and implemented by Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice and Movement is Life. Samaritan is jointly accredited to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The 2026 Health Summit is accredited continuing education in its own right, for the entire healthcare team.
