The 2025 Movement is Life Annual Summit was a national convening of diverse leaders, healthcare professionals, changemakers, and community voices committed to dismantling health disparities and advancing equity, together.
Guided by the theme Combating Disparities: The Power of Movement in Community, the Summit explored how movement, in every sense of the word, can drive systems change, elevate community voice, and foster more just health outcomes for all.
The day blended bold conversation, practical strategy, and movement-based experiences to connect the dots between personal health, community wellness, and systems-level transformation — a call to action for providers, policymakers, researchers, advocates, and community leaders alike.

Empowering women innovators to present bold, community-rooted solutions to health inequities. Five finalists pitched live for funding and support, judged by the Philanthropy Panel.

Poster Presentations
Nearly 30 posters showcasing local and national research, programs, and community initiatives tackling the social and structural drivers of health disparities — from community-based programs to clinical, observational, and systematic reviews.
Dialogue
Philanthropy in Action Panel
A critical dialogue on the evolving role of funders and investors in advancing health equity, particularly in underserved and under-resourced communities. The panelists also served as PowHer Pitch judges.

2025 Recipient: Ivan Tornos
Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer, Zimmer Biomet
Ivan Tornos leads Zimmer Biomet Holdings, a global medical technology company focused on maximizing mobility and improving health. Appointed CEO in 2023 and Chairman in 2025, he has advanced the patient experience through innovative products and integrated digital and robotics technologies while advancing health equity through strategic investment, programs, support and partnerships.
Central to that commitment is the Zimmer Biomet Foundation, established in 2018, which invests in healthy communities, STEM education, disaster relief, and global inclusion — and which shares Movement is Life’s ambition to address musculoskeletal health disparities and elevate movement as a vehicle for community wellness and dignity.
