Movement is Life’s mission is bolstered by support from policymakers. Here are resources and ways you can join us to help advocate for change at local and national levels.
support the EMMT act
Movement is Life was highly engaged with the late great Congressman John Lewis and his proposed legislation, the Equality in Medicare and Medicaid Treatment (EMMT) Act.
This legislation is now proposed by Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Rep. Terri Sewll (D-AL) and we remain committed to its success — but we need your help.
Supporting this bill would...
- Require the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) to include experts in health disparities and social determinants of health as part of the evaluation and review of new payment models
- Require fairness in new payment methods for women and high-risk patients from racial and ethnic minorities and rural communities
- Direct CMMI to develop and test a payment model tailored to addressing social determinants of health, ensuring all models account for the impact on minority and rural
populations
